Statement of Andy Hasse
September 11, 2001
I
have won this case, which means that I can remain the owner of AFM.COM,
a domain name I have owned and used for six years. However, what I have been
put through is criminal. For four (4) months I have had to fight a case
in an illegitimate international court, which was formed and backed by
the U.S. government and several multinationals.
The U.S. is duping the world into thinking that it does not control the Internet through the creation of ICANN (Internet Corporation for the Assignment of Names and Numbers). And the U.S. is violating its citizens' rights by allowing this secretive organization, ICANN, to ignore basic Constitutional rights of citizens online. WIPO, eResolution, and other "arbitration" groups selected by ICANN are merely "guns for hire". The halting of ICANN must be the goal of Free Speech advocates.
I speak out because I feel that this is an extremely important issue, and to fight this issue publicly is more important than risking any labels of "activist" or "troublemaker" that are too often given to those who oppose injustice. Our Constitutional Rights online have been crushed by a secretive backdoor deal between multinationals and the U.S. Government which created ICANN to control communication online. The Internet is both a multitrillion-dollar business and a key information warfare tool, and the U.S. Government and its multinational business friends spend millions on disinformation.
Do your own research and you will discover that what I say is true. Please take time to help reinstate our Constitutional Rights online. The Internet is our most important information source, do not let corporations and rogue governmental organizations control our freedom of speech. One (small) way you can do this is to sign up (click) for my monthly newsletter; in that newsletter I will provide more information on further actions and events. (Unsubscribing is easy and no information is shared). Also I am, with the assistance of attorneys, scholars, lawmakers, and Free Speech advocates, forming an organization to dissolve ICANN. This is JUST the beginning.
I wish to give thanks to those who have offered their support, should the AFMA, or any other organization attempt to take away my domain name. And I sincerely thank those who have provided support throughout this kangaroo court process.
If you are participant in this unjust system, then I call upon you to look beyond your "careers", and do the right thing.
Sincerely,
Andy Hasse
